Hello!
I am in the used truck market and while there is no question in my mind about the right brand, I am lacking towing capacity information for the potential trucks.

I will be purchasing a Ford F(?)50 Crew Cab 4wd for the purpose of towing a larger travel trailer (6-7000 lbs). I have 3 boys. And we would use the truck for trips to Lake Tahoe in the winter.

I have not purchased a trailer yet. I want the truck first and it seems that in general, the 150s are good for around 5500lbs, the 250s for around 10000, and the 350s+ are good for far more than I can afford!

So I just want the towing capacity specs for all of the models from say 1988 to 1998. Any ideas? Thanks so much for any help you might have!!

The two best sources to get trailer towing capacities,GVWRs,GVW ratings and the like, would be to look in all the different years of Trailer Towing Guides printed by Ford from '88-'98.Vehicle owner's manuals also have this type of information.There are sooo many different configurations of optional trucks&equipment packages offered from '88-'98 it would be impossible to list them all.

 

If you are looking for a crew cab you will only find them in the F350's between 88 and 98. I would suggest a 95 or 96 F250 Super Cab Power Stroke Diesel or a crew cab F350 in the same years. You won't regret going with the diesel. Just my $0.02 Good Luck

Super Cab or otherwise known as extended cab is a two door with a back bench where as the crew cab has four full size doors and more room in the back to seat adults.
