Dash Bulb Replacemnet

I have a 97 F150 and have a couple blown bulbs, how hard is it to change them? Do I just want to take it to a dealer? Thanks.

It isn't really all that hard to change the bulbs. I did it myself on my 97 F150 and it took me roughly a 1/2 hour to get everything done. I would suggest possibly picking up a Chilton's repair manual. They are about $25 for the book. I bought one and it has paid for itself many times over.

Do you have to go under the dash to get to them or do you remove a front bezel?

You must remove the bezel. Maybe someone else can chime in and help out.

It isn't that hard. You must take the bezel off. It's been a while since i had my 00 off but if i remember right it just pulls off. Take it slow and look for any fasteners. Once it's off the instrument cluster is held in be torx screws. Just unscrew it and disconnect the wire harnesses. Make sure you know the location of the burnt out lights and from the back the sockets just turn about half a turn and it will pop off with the bulb. Put everything back together

If you don't have a manual to go by it might be kind of difficult. And,instead of replacing the bad ones replace them all so you won't have to do it again.

I agree with you on those two things. I bought a manual wich made the job very easy. When I bought my truck 1 bulb was burnt out and I decided to leave it alone, but then another one went out so I took on the task of replacing them all, don't like messing around in resetting clock. Be sure that when you do it disconnect the negative battery cable first and then the Positive one and wait two minutes. Rather be safe than accidentily having air bag go off on ya.

Read the section closely about the headlight switch removal. Basically you remove the ****, re-install it 180degrees out and turn the switch backwards to release the switch assembly from the dash. That was the most difficult part. Ditto on the advice previously stated, I replaced all the bulbs when it was apart, they are cheap.
