Hope you guys can help before I start throwing money at my truck.

Well I can drive around all day with the engine makeing normal power but when it hits 10 PSI on the bost guage the engine chokes out the EGT go way up and there is a lot of black smoke. I can turn it off and it good to go in till i hit 10 PSI agine. May be my MAP sensor or IDM ?

97 4x4 PSD with an auto trans.

do you have a chip or tuner?

sounds like its overfueling to me. maybe a bad map line or sensor. what all is done to your truck??

 

Superchip 1705 been used for over 4 years 4" cat back 3" downpipe tymar intake, 25 psi of boost towing on a good day. I checked the turbo and it is good spins good no rubbing. just power power then 10 psi blaaaaaaaaaaa smoke oh 1300+ EGT back out of the power go slow up hills i can tow at the posted limit + when working right.

 

once it hits 10 and loses power can you let up and drive normal till next time it hits 10 psi or once it hits does it have porblems till you shut it down and start it back up? i am thinking intake y-pipe boots leaking. maybe they seal enough till 10 psi then the boost vents and makes it run bad since not enough air for the fuel it putting in there.
