Do It Yourself Bed Liners????

I have seen some of the roll on stuff, like Herculiner and it didn't look very durable to me. I did a spray in liner from a company called RattleGuard. Bought it on Ebay. It's been in the truck for almost 4 years now and I have beat the wee out of my truck, hauling everything from pallets of salt in the winter, chunks of wood in the spring and summer, dirt, mulch, truck parts (engines, tranny's, rears, etc.) and not so much as a scratch in it, plus it grips really well. A few winters back when I only had a drop in liner, I was carrying a pallet of salt (49 50lb bags on my little 1/2 ton!!) and the straps came loose, the pallet slid from front to rear and put a bow into my tailgate and in the front of the bed. I fixed the dents, sprayed in the liner and to this day, I don't need to strap the pallets down to keep then from sliding (I do for safety, but not necessary). It is not nearly as thick as the big name stuff, but it is durable if prepared properly.
If you look into the RattleGuard stuff, you can get it in colors if you wish to match your truck. Make sure you get the spray gun if you don't have one to handled the larger particles. Also the instruction were really easy to follow and you can change texture by changing your air pressure (fine, normal, or extra texture).

I second the rattleguard... I just sprayed some in the cab of my 95 powerstroke and am planning on doing the rockers panels/tailgate soon. The bed was already rhino lined when I got it, but it didn't have a tailgate so that's why I'm doing only the tailgate.
Rattle guard is an epoxy style bed liner in which you have to mix up a main ingredient A and a hardener B along with color tint and some rubber particles. Super tough stuff!

I have used Herculiner roll in and it works very well. Me either I have never heard of RattleGaurd. What ever you do buy a name brand like Herculiner. The stuff I see at Kragens & places like that isn't that good. For stuff I need to last I buy from CarQuest. They sell Herculiner Products.

Looks like you got the right one. A couple words of advice. Before you stir in the rubber particles make sure that you crush them in the bag to get rid of any clumps. Also I like to mix all the ingredients EXCEPT the hardener together until it's well mixed and then add the hardener. This will buy you a little extra time. Also if it's very warm when you're spraying it they you'd better bust butt and try to get it all sprayed quickly so it doesn't start setting up in the bucket you mix it in. Be sure to sand everything with 50 grit to give it a good bite. Oh and in the instructions it says to spray your bucket down with silicone lubricant spray and it will peel right out after it dries!
I sprayed my tailgate, rocker panels and wheel arches with it a couple days ago, but I still need to get pics. Luckily I finished my pickup while everything was working well. I had some left over that I was going to spray on a metal countertop where we've got our sink in the shop and it started setting up and turned into a big clumpy mess.

Thanks for the tips!!

As for the compressor it says to use a 5hp or larger compressor... I'm sure you'd be ok with a bit of a smaller one though, just so long as it keeps up!
