It's possible, but it would act like you forgot to push in the clutch and bog the motor until it died when coming to a stop.
How many miles on it and has it ever been tuned up?

Sounds more like the TC not LOCKING.

Does the "miss" happen when accelerating slowly/moderately, and at about 30-45MPH?

How about a vacum leak
Pcv valve elbow hose
How about a dirty Maf
Iac circuit dirty
Bad sprkplug boots
sprkplug loose in the hole
Cop going south
Chk cyclinder misfires
remeber we are OBDI things don't post codes or chk eng lights unless really bad.

elbow hose is good, just had the plugs changed autolite double platium,no cracks in plug boots, clean maf, cleaned with elect. contact cleaner.I cant figure out what is wrong and no one else seems to be able to figure it out.Mech. says he cant fix anything if there is no codes?or he said he could just start replacing parts hoping it will fix it?

Sounds like it needs to be driven with a good scanner that logs live data to see what is going on.

the mech that did the work for me said they drove the truck with a scanner hooked up ,and nothing showed up even when it would miss, and the miss is very noticeable.
