Thumbs up ATF for MPG

My brother called all excited, said he got a 4 mpg boost in his 3/4 ton 4wd by adding a bit of ATF to his gas. Said he added about an inch out of a quart can to 30 gallons. Suggested I do the same.

Now he is a reasonable man, uses the same gas supplier for the last 30 years - and has one of those 330 cu in modular engines with port injection. Some other farmer had turned him on to this idea - I guess he had been doing it for years in his GM trucks. He thought it was the high detergent in the oil that cleaned his injectors - so he adds ATF to every tank.

I told him that if something cleaned his injectors then he had dirty gas problems, and, once cleaned, it would not matter if he continued to use ATF. I also tried to explain that a cup of ATF in 30 gallons of gas is too diluted to do anything.

However, in this family I got the brains and he got the stubborn. In the end I suggested he route his gas lines through a horse-shoe magnet so that the magnetic forces would cause the atomic domains in the gas to line up in better order, and give him more power.

I can see it now - every time the coop delivers gas to the farm he will be on top the tank dumping a couple of quarts of ATF into it, and he will have a 50 pound magnet duct taped to the fill hose.

Anyone else have a good suggestion for increased MPG?

btw, on one of the other forums there was a guy that had a surefire way to increase mileage. It went on for weeks with him posting his weekly MPG, he was very knowledgeable and respected so a couple of others even tried his trick. Turned out his son and a neighbor were adding 2 gallons of gas to his tank the night before he normally filled up!

Somebody was talking about adding things like ammonia or moth ***** to each tank. I think any improvement that people see when they try these urban legends caused by their change in driving brought on because they are being very concious of their driving. Slow accelleration and minding the speed limit add up to better mileage at the pump. Jag

The TornadoFuelSaver is an air-TWISTER, patented worldwide, with 10 years of research & development behind it.

It is an automotive air channeling tool that creates a swirling air motion, allowing the air to move faster and more efficiently by continuously whirling air around corners and bends.

TornadoFuelSaver is made of stainless steel and has no moving parts. Its precisely engineered slotted fins convert normal air intake flow into a powerful spinning vortex of air that mixes the air and fuel together, resulting in better fuel mileage and performance

Improve your fuel economy with the Dixie Cap! Developed by automotive and race car specialists, the Dixie Cap is a specially designed capacitor that can be easily installed into your vehicle's fuel injection system to provide better gas mileage and improved engine performance. Give your vehicle extra performance, and give your wallet better gas mileage!

TornadoFuelSaver:
Why would you need air to move quicker into your engine in normal driving? - the only time you need more air is very high RPM full throttle operation. With an EFI the intake runners are a precision cast for best air flow, what would a spinning vortex of air do to those calculations?

If you are running a carb, what does this do to the venturi effect, and the fuel to air mixture? Could it even be that a "spinning vortex" of air would cause the fuel to separate from the air with carbureted and throttle body systems?

Dixie Cap:
A capacitor is a device which resists and delays changes in the electric current - all these will do is delay when your injectors turn on, and, hopefully, delay the turn off the same amount. At best all these will do is cause your injectors to work late, and maybe spray some of the fuel onto a valve that has already closed.

In bulk these electrolytic capacitors are 10 for a penny, even radio shack has them for a dime each. You sure can save money buying them for the $4.95 sale price this company offers! (plus shipping and handling)

Yes, I have too much time on my hands, and the computer room is air conditioned. I think the current heat wave is about over and I will get back to work on my projects!
