Help with greasing 4x4 front axles.

I was doing my 15,000 mile service on my 04 superduty. I greased the front steering components but could not get my grease coupler to stay latched on the axle u-joints. the neck of the zerk fittings appear awful shallow.

Has any one else had an issue with this? Can you simply change the fittings to allow a slightly longer fitting?

Thanks,

You will run into this problem again if you ever replace a u-joint or add grease fittings... buy the $5 "needle" attachment for your grease gun. You'll use it again for sure (i need it for lawnmower, trailer greasefittings, small tractor, and at least 5 other things i can't think of right now).
