Triming Rose Bushes
I am from Northwest Ohio Zone 5 and would like to trim my Rose Burshes, they are carpet roses, but not sure. When i brought them 6 or 7 years I ask for Carpet Roses and the man at the greenhouse said they were, I do not know what a Carpet Rose looks like. They are 2'1/2" tall or more. They need a good triming out, if I do it now will they get new roses on this year yet? If I do it will be a very big triming that I will do.

Trimming roses is easy. Where they are cut - the next leaf below will be where the new shoot will start. I trim off dead flowers after they wilt. The cycle is bloom/seed. If you don't let the grandiflora seed, they keep on blooming. We used to live in OR - not far from Jackson-Perkins, and had roses blooming till after Thanksgiving.
