rufaast,
Ford never used the direct injected 6.6l inline six in any of their pick-up trucks, that said my uncle still runs a turbo aftercooled inline six in his custom converted 1974 F250. For the most part the motor you are referring to has been obsoleted and it can be pretty difficult to get spare parts for.
There are still quite a few marine engines and tractors around that use the 6.6 l inline six. They come in various configurations from the base 125 hp up to the turbo-aftercooled 200 hp models. If tweaked properly you can push them to 300 hp.
A marine shop I work with still does the odd rebuilt assuming they can get parts (pistons, rings, valves) out of England for these motors.
It is getting more and more difficult to get parts for the 6.6l motors as they were obsoleted some 15 to 20 years ago. Most of the marine market now uses the six cyliner turbo aftercooled Volvo diesels the large of which can produce 400+ hp.
This forum deals mostly with the Ford (International) Diesels that Ford started using in their pick-up trucks back in 1983.
