Fuel gauge issue 04 F250 Powerstroke

For the second time in 6 weeks My 2004 F250 Powerstroke has run out of fuel with the gauge showing a 1/4 tank. First time it was just under a 1/4 showing I had it towed to dealer and they told me it had sucked in the filters requiring replace and flush of system. The told me that this happening very often and I would be replacing all of the injectors at my cost. I told them that I didn't want this to happen again and to check out the fuel gauge and sending unit and replace if in doubt. Well they checked it out and found nothing wrong, told me it was accurate and should not be an issue again and handed me a bill for over $400. Now 6 weeks later on the Friday night before a holiday, it did it again, this time with over a 1/4 tank showing. Any help on this would be great as I really don't want to spend 6 grand replacing injectors and would really like to trust my truck again, getting to the point that i'm nervous at 1/2 tank.

there has been issues with fuel tank delamination and sending unit failures caused by fuel quality. Chevron's techron has been used to help out the fuel tank sending unit failures. If you have fuel tank problems, replacement may be your only solution.Remember to use cetane boosting additives with every tank.

Red face cool

cool , will try next week when i goto to town again

let me know if you end up doing it first and it works or not
, just dont know why the gas gauge would be off and the liar meter be working still, i would think it would get the reading from the same sending unit card

It worked like a charm. Took three tanks and three treatments but the guage works fine and the sensor light has stayed off. Cleaned up at 1200 miles of running the stuff. Here is the link to the PSD threat on this topic.

Try cleaning your positive terminals on both batteries. Advanced auto sells terminal cleaner that neutralizes corrosion on battery terminals. It's red when sprayed and turns yellow when activated on corrosion. 95% of the time fuel gauge will read low fuel or show gas all the way full even though you know it isn't. Clean the positive teminals and check. I can almost guarantee that will solve your problem with fuel gauge acting up out of the blue.
