Nitrous in a 2005 F-150?
I am interested if anyone has information regarding the use of nitrous in a newer F-150. I currently have a 2005 F-150 Supercrew FX4 with an AirRiad cold air intake, throddle body spacer, Hypertech programmer and Flowmaster American Thunder Series Catback system. I am looking to add headers and a 75 to 125 shot Nitrous system but can't find a nitrous system for the newer F-150's. Any suggestions?
I've played with the idea of a supercharger but don't need this power all the time and those kits are alittle on the expensive side ($3,000 - $5,000).
Thanks for your help!

NOS should have a custom system that would work, but...
I'd call 'em first. These motors have electronic throttle control. Normally nitrous is ONLY used at WOT. With these trucks, you're only a voting member in the position of the throttle. In other words, when you floor the gas, the throttle plate might not be fully cranked open! This could cause engine damage if nitrous is gushing into the motor.
But yeah, call up NOS or whoever and ask away. Report back with your findings, I'm curious now!

Nitrous
Look at Zex.com Part # 82047. The problem with a nitrous system with stock parts is longevity.A lot of factors come into play,
Stock Trans,axle(s)and driveshaft(s).
Sure, its absoultely doable but depending on how you use it, you will be setting yourself up for some parts being replaced.More power=less life.
I dont think anyone can give you an estimate on how long your stock parts will last.Your warranty will be voided. If you dont mind rebuilding, fine.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. Zex.com looks promising. I'll have to give them a call tomorrow to see if this product will work with the 2005 F-150. I'll let you all know what happends.
As for stress on the drivetrain, I would have thought this would be similar to the effect of a Roush (or similar) Supercharger. I don't think they include forged pistons (internals) or a stronger rear-end or driveshaft with those kits. In fact, I think the option from Roush is just the supercharger and a programmer for timming/fuel capacity, etc... am I wrong?
I believe the Roush kit gives you approx 112 hp and 130 ftlbs of torque and the Zex kit appears to be around those #'s.
As for the warranty issue...Adding any power adder has its risks. If needed I am sure the kit can be taken out of the truck in the same amount of time it was installed.

I just wanted to bring to your attension the warranty issues.Just make sure whatever you deceide on the kit is installed properly with a on/off toggle switch,W.O.T. microswitch to the solenoid(s)and proper fuel manangement etc.

When I first purchased it I used to 92 octane setting but now I use the 87 octane setting (gas prices) and see an improvement over stock especially in the trans shifting. It shifts alot better. Also I was able to adjust the speedo for the 20inch wheels I installed and increase the rev limiter just a little which sounds great at WOT with the flowmasters plus like I said before it shifts great!
I did all the mods on my truck within 3 weeks of its purchase. I didn't notice a diff in MPG
My dad also has an F-150 very similar to mine but a totally stock set-up so I can now kick his butt off the line..haha I win and thats whats its all about!!
