Service engine light question

G'morning,

I have a 99 f150 with the Triton v8 and 88k miles that my wife drives. She just informed me that the service engine soon light came on yesterday and it seemed as though the truck lost a little power for a short time. Shes going to get groceries in a bit and I was going to have her stop at one of the parts stores to see about getting the codes read. Is there a printable list of the codes available on line, or should I just wait and post here to get the appropriate info? I told her do get them read first then call me, and I'd check here and call her back just in case there was something she could pick up and I could install this afternoon.

Or, if anyone can give me some insight into the problem or possible problem it would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance!!!

Matt

When you get it read they should give you a number and what the problem is, for example idle air control valve malfunction. When you get this info you can search the forum or post the findings, good luck

Welp, I guess I earned my right of passage today. I changed the plugs and wires, (!!!!!!!!!!!!) Not something I would like to do on a regular basis. The plugs that came out looked like crap, and the the smallest gap was .070. I took it for a drive and it was a great improvement. ( I guess I sould say they looked like crap in that they were worn alot, but the burn coloring on them looked good. I have to admit, I was nervous as a wh......., well, you know, about cross threading one! But, I took it slow, used the vac hose trick to start them, and checked them by hand before snugging them down.

Thanks for all the help!!! I'm glad I found this resource for help in keeping the old girl on the road.......and the truck along with her
