color schemes 1972 F250 Sport Custom
I would like information on exterior color and/or combinations of colors on '72 sport customs. I have seen a few around that are two tone, is this the norm? Could it have been a solid color? Did the paint schemes change with trim levels? My truck has been repainted, but I know one color is Frost Turquoise(sp). And I believe the other may have been a white, as the visors and headliner are white. Thanks in advance.

According to the '72 sales brochure the colors available are; Wimbledon White, Mallard Green, Seapine Green metalic, winter green, calypso coral, candyapple red, royal maroon, prairie yellow, tampico yellow, swiss aqua, wind blue, bahama blue, bay roc blue metallic, sequoia brown metallic, chrome yellow, pure white. There are 3 different ways the truck can be painted two-tone; the roof a different color from the rest of the truck, the bottom of the body different from the top, and the bottom and roof different than the top. The brochure doesn't list all the color combinations but say there are 138 different ways the Styleside models can be painted.
Take a look at the Sport Custom in my gallery...it's tampico yellow and sequoia brown metalic.
hope this helps

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 09-Aug-02 AT 08:35 PM (EST)]Thanks! that does help. I guess my color isn't frost turquoise. The color code on my rating plate is "B". I looked at a 1967 website which says "B" is frost turquoise, thought that may apply to '72's, I guess not. Thanks again for the help. Also, looked at your truck, she looks good. I'm hoping to get mine that nice someday,

[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Aug-02 AT 08:24 PM (EST)]Ok, sorry for the delay, but
1972 Ford Truck colors
B= wind blue, very light solid blue
6= bahama blue, med-med light solid blue ( solid means no metallics/pearls fyi)
not sure how many paint companys have formulas for these colors, but the one I use at work (Diamont) does.
as I posted before, the codes weren't the same year to year for colors back then, so it doesn't neccisarilly apply to different years
