Would you recommend trading a 04 SD for a new 06? All comments good and bad is accepted! Looking at new 06 Lariat only difference is the new front suspension and the added switched and tow command. happy with the 04 but if Nye or Cal "don't have all I want" can get me into a new 06 for what I pay now or perfer less.

Well went to Nye and they made an ok attempt at a DEAL but just could not pull it off. Wanted to keep payment down but best could get to was 775 or so. And not heart broke over it, the truck was just NOT what I wanted. The truck was solid color, really like the two-tone look! Did cross my mind about getting the Arizona beige solid color and painting it myself. Now will have to see what Cals can do! Cal only had short beds and want long bed. I know I know just too d_ _ _ picky, but for what the price of these trucks are these day need to get what you want so can be happy! So for now will keep my 04

'04 for an '06
I just traded my '04 XL 250 supercab LWB 4x4 PSD w/ auto in on a '06 xlt 350 supercab lwb 4x4 psd w/auto. Love the diddefent ride and the better turning radius. Other options on my new rig: shift on the fly, advanced security group, power drivers seat, sliding rear window, tow command, 11,400 gvwr pkg, snow plow pkg, runnning boards, 6 disc changer, fog lights, bout the only thing this truck didn't have that I might have wanted was the upfitter switches and the cab lights, but I've got those at home.
Got this truck at a really good price from NYE. Payments only went up $50 a month over the XL and the financeing actually made this truck cheaper over the term than the XL. Just go in there and find what you want and lay the offer to them. If you want more info pm me...
BTW, FWIW if you have the means I'd trade. I'm glad I did! The push you back in your seat power in the '06 is remarkable. A noticable difference over the '04.

Funny but just 3 hours ago I was looking at a new 350XLTCCPSD at Cal's. Nice truck. Had all the amenities. you name it & it had it. (Xcept leather) It sits too high for my personal taste but it was nice.. the price was nice too, 46K. I'm sure I can get it for less if I wanted to. Still not sure of the 6.0
My 7.3 runs great but I could use the additional room the CC has.. Have you ever looked at the back seat room on these trucks? Lots of space to say the least.
By the way I was surpised to see that the GVWR on this SRW mdl was 11,500
It is right on the door. That is 100#'s more than my dually is rated for.
I think that figure beats GM & DC. srw 1T units.

Ray, I have bought 5 trucks in the last 10 years....the first two came from Cal's and the last three came from NYE. I just seem to get a brush off and run around from Cal's. The last two 6.0's came from NYE and I got what I felt were fair deals. I got my '06 350 XLT (see signature) for under $700 a month... my suggestion to you is go and before doing any dealing on a truck ask to meet the service department, meet a few of them and get a "feel" for their attitude. See if your going to like working with them if/when maintance/warranty work is need on your truck. After that then shop the lot for your truck and talk with a salesman.
I've gotten to know the people up at NYE and feel confortable doing business with them. The service department is pretty darn nice and willing to work with me considering my funky work schedule. NYE also works for me due to the fact that I live in the Valley and I'm close to the dealer.
Yes, I guess I'm partial towards NYE, but bottom line is go to each one and "feel" them out and then go with your instincts.
Just my .02.....hope this helps you out.......Chris

Sorry I tried to pipe in last night at work but FTE froze up. The main reason for my purchase was a matter of necessity. I was in Anorage with the rear of my truck full to the top of the canopy, an 16' trailer full and my family of 5. We just spent 4 days there shopping and was on our way home when I lost the injectors on the left side of the motor. This pre surging had been going on for months and I thought it was bad fuel. So here we are at Cals waiting room, all 5 of us. 5 year old, 2 year old and an 8 month old. So after being "told" about this sale I figured what the heck lets do some numbers. Because I bought my 04 with the D Plan I actually made $1000 trading in back in. Now you add on the rebates of $5500 and the D- plan price of $2500 below invoice I eventually end up getting a $50,000 truck for 37,500. Man I couldnt pass up the deal. Went from an XL to a decked out Lariet.
As for the truck I have noticed a lot better ride and steering. My 04 got better MPG but hopefully this one will get better. The 06 also has an 11500 rating. Heck that is almost the same as an 04 dually.
End result was my monthly payment did go up but I'm happier with what I got and that is what it all boils down to. Now if I can just find a mini van for the wife I might actually get to drive it.

All I can say is WOW, this new 06 is awesome! Not romped on it yet only has 165 miles on it! I really have noticed two things so far, the ride is outstanding I thought my 04 rode good! The next is the difference in the RPM at certain speed! In my 04 at 65 to 69 mph I was turning 2k to 21k and with the 06 I am turning about 17k to 19k. I have had to really watch my speed after I got popped for 86 in a 65! It helps on fuel savings! I just love the new 06, glad that Cals was able to get the deal done!!!
