I am trying to figure out what size the 6 banger in my 62 F100 is. The Vin shows a B for the engine code which says it's a 262. However, I found a website that says that 262's were not available until 1963. Any visible difference between the 262 and 223? Also the paint code is "T" which shows as Sandshell Beige, again this website shows that color from 63 and up. My truck was built in December of 1961. How do I know for sure?

First off welcome to the FTE 61-66 F Series Forum

I can't speak to your Paint Code & color.

But I do know the 262CID I-6Cyl engine certainly was available in 1961. 262s were available in the light & medium Duty F Series from 1961 through 1964 as an option. 1962 is in that span of production.

If you want to know for sure if your "Slick" is a 62, built in Dec' of 1961 the Serial Number will fall between #240000 and #249999 according to FoMoCo.
