Ipod- in my 2006 F350
ok. i have an Ipod now, and i bought one of the FM transmitter to play the Ipod through the trucks radio. long story short, the transmitter sucks big time. it is staticky, and you can barely hear it.
so i went to Walmart and bought a audio cable. my truck has the standard CD changer in it withOUT the cassette, and it ISNT the 6-disc changer. my friend said you have to pull the radio out, plug in the Audio wire in the back, then plug the other end into the Ipod headset plug in.
i have a 2006 F350 and on the CD player it has the Auxillery button.
does anyone have any advice or info about this before i rip the CD deck out of the dash?
thanks in advance

hrm, i dont know if you can just plug it in. you might be able to. search around on the forums because i know this has been talked about before.
you can also just try it. it doesnt take long to get those head units out and then you can play with it and see if it works

thanks matt-
another question.... do i have to rip the dash off to get this one out or is there some kind of trick? cause the older stereos from Ford had the 4 little holes you push the tool into to unlock it, this one doesnt.

On the 05, you can get the PIE FRD04-AUX and a UNi-POD and use your iPOD with that CAN connector.
course I gotta figure out how to get my stereo out before I can hook mine up..the 05's don't appear to have the holes neither.

I've got an 05 Lariat,
First turn your key on and shift the shifter into 1 (if auto). I started at the driver's edge (to the left of the dash vent)of the dash facia and pulled, the entire dash facia pops off. Work your way around the perimeter popping the facia away from the dash. Once you've released it, you'll need to reach behind and disconnect the harnesses to the climate control, cig lighter, etc. Don't worry about getting them confused, they're all different plugs.
Once the harnesses are disconnected, just pull dash facia away and put up in a safe place (where you can't step on it). 4 bolts hold the radio in, unscrew those and voila.
Should take you 5 minnutes.
The FRD04-AUX works great and sounds awesome...no static. Let me know if you need one, I've got a spare I can get you for alot less than new.
Hope this helps,
Matt

You would think that considering the "aux" button, but that's not the case, at least it wasn't with my CD-6 unit, but I oculdn't imagine it being any different with the single CD.

Hey, built toughF250.
I have a 2006 Ford F350 CC and JUST WENT THOUGH THE SAME STEPS YOU DID. I bought the P.I.E. unit the other guy was talking about from www.crutchfield.com for $99. They're mulitiple modulers you can buy ranging from $99-$199. Using one or these modulers is the best Sound quility your going to get without spending the big bucks. When you install the PIE moduler you need to run 12v power to it. You can either splice off the Green Violet wire in the back of the stereo or you can run a new wire from to your fuse box under the steering wheel. You can use speaker wire to do this.
After i did that, i realized you cant charge your ipod or navigate the the ipod on your factory stereo. But i guess you can buy a seprate charger for the ipod.
Then i went to a alpine dealer down the street from my house and ended up buying the new Alpine IVA-200.
www.alpine-usa.com/en/products/product.php?model=IVA-W200
This thing is sweet and has the newest tech. for I pods. FULL SPEED IPOD.. they call it. check it out on the web site. You can get them for $1,000 + Tax.
It fits good and looks clean. If you have any questions let me know.
