throttle cable

There can be some slack in the accelerator cable, perhaps a 1/4" at most, associated with the TB being moved outward away from the upper intake plenum. The distance traveled by the accelerator cable has effectively been shortened by adding that spacer and the hardware for the cable, even with the provided adapter plates installed.
As long as the cable stays in the groove of the throttle linkage pulley and you have a full range of butterfly movement there doesn't seem to be any problem with leaving the cable as slack as it becomes when adding a TB spacer.

Hi Kerry,
I know this post is quite old but I was searching the forum on accelerator cables for 1988 F250 302 and came accross this thread and thought you could give some feedback on what I just posted in the 1987 - 1996 F150 And Larger F-Series Trucks forum. See below:
Do you think I need to loosen up the throttle body bolts and move a bit to get more cable to move the butterfly to give me more throttle would work?
Thanks,
Runner

I need help here.
My TPS(Throttle position sensor) went bad so I removed the throttle body and replaced the TPS. I replaced the throttle body gasket and put everything back to normal. I put back the accelerator cable on the throttle body but when I step on the gas pedal(to the max) the cable barely gives me throttle. I tried eveything.
I thought it was the cable so I replaced and still no luck.
Does this have something to do with the TPS? What went wrong here?
The truck will start up perfectly and runs smooth but the cable will not go all the way to give me throttle.
I'm stumped.
thanks,
runner
