2002 7.3 radio will stay on with the door is open the key is out door ajar light stays on interior lights will not come on when you open the door if you lock the door with the button on the driver side it will unlock itself before you can shut it you have to use the keys to lock the driver's door it does not have a fob that came with it. So if I unplug the vsM will everything work

Try shopping mutiple dealerships for module. I did and got mine for 131 tax included. Bartered a deal and got it put in and programmed for 117. Nothing to lose by shopping it around a little. Fortunately I'm in place were there a 5 dealerships within 20 miles of house. None of them like to be one-upped by the other.

Such an old thread, but still very useful.
Recently, the second of two working key fobs STOP working on my 2003 Excursion. One at a time. Replaced batteries, and the vehicle will NOT go into program mode to setup any new/different/additional fobs.
And just today, I cannot get my 2002 F250 to go into program mode either, even though I have two fobs which are working perfectly.
I do NOT want to have to purchase two new VSM's, but looks like I may be on that path.

Sorry for reviving an old thread but my VSM has been displaying the indications it is ready for replacement. Local dealership wants 219.54 for the module. Looking online, I see I can get it for just over 180.00 but that doesn't include shipping, which would probably bring it up to about equal just buying it from the dealer. Anybody know a better place that has a better price?

If the dealership is going to install and program it for $219 that is a pretty good deal.
