I have a 96' F250 Crew cab with a K&N filter, 3" downpipe and 4" the rest of the way. No smoke at all, any tips?

yea hook a 48' semi trailer loaded at 20,000#s, you will get plenty of smoke.

Is there a reason you want it to smoke?

Just smell it you get the same effect

Just like the smoke...

I'm sure there's plenty of guys on this website looking for the same thing. Smoke=Power and high fuel flow.... It's the oooh ahhh factor really, nice to have, people wouldn't mod their trucks if they didn't want the performance.

As I understand it, our trucks smoke when there is too much fuel. So maybe big injectors will make a cloud for you. Mine doesn't smoke at full throttle (with no load), but towing a trailer it can. When pulling a trailer: more boost=more fuel and therefore more black smoke. Am I right in all this?

That sounds pretty correct to me, I was thinking about a low horsepower chip, as to try and not destroy anything in the transmission or torqueconverter, hoping that maybe that will give me just a little.

If you want smoke without a big load, you'll need to use a tuner on it's highest setting. I only get smoke w/o load if I load the 100hp setting on the Edge tuner.

BTW, smoke=wasted fuel.

I have an edge platinum that allows you to adjust for smoke in all settings if memory serves...I saw it scrolling thru the menus...there was actually a sliding scale (incremental) with more smoke being at one end of the scale ...don't remeber what was at the front end. I'll check tomorrow and get back.

Dump a quart of oil down your exhuast you will throw oil at the car next to you, and when it gets hot enough it will smoke. it will smoke... that is if you can handle the mess. hahahh. Or just put the ebrake on then you will have a load and no back brakes when you need them!

no just kidding. i wouldnt do either unles you would wanna. but me and a buddy put oil in his exhaust and it smoked alot when the pipe got really hot. but it was a big mess.
i would do what the other guys are saying. get a chip and turn up way up to a high setting. then you will have more power and the smoke you want!

how about a fitting plumbed into your exhaust manifold with a pump to shoot oil in? it could be the smokiest truck ever...

just detune your intake to about 2 inch pipe and put the smallest air filter on and you will probably get some smoke.
