headlights, foglights not working

the other night, the headlights, (lowbeams) stopped working, the high beams only work on the "temp" setting and not when you push the turn signal lever forward. I also found that the fog lights don't work. I checked fuses, bulbs and the switch and all is well. The autoparts store told me that there is no relay for the headlamps. Any idea what to check next??

The only good thing is I have to leave work a bit early now!

I removed it and did a continuity check between the blade terminals on the back side of the switch.

Hi and welcome to the forum

Power goes from fuse 8 in the fuse box under the hood to the headlight switch. Did you check that one too?
From the headlight switch power goes to the multifunction (dimmer switch) on the red/yellow wire.
I would start by checking for power at the headlight switch dark blue/orange wire. That comes from the fuse under the hood.
If you have power there then check for power coming out of the headlight switch on the red/yellow wire.

thanks I'll try that, I only verified that the fuse was intact and that the switch worked. Is there anything else that the foglights and headlights have in common?

The fuses and switches are all they have in common other than the wiring between them.

It pretty much has to be the main headlight switch unless you have an open circuit in the wiring to/from the switch.

F8 has to be good since the flash-to-pass works.

I think I got it!

its the high/low beam switch I can get both the fog and the lowbeams to work if I put the switch in the right positon and wiggle it a bit. Now I just have to buy and install that switch.

Thanks.

John
