Line-X Spray on Bed Cover

Just had the bed of my 04 Super Crew F150 FX4 sprayed with Line-x and man does it look great. I would really reccomend checking out Line-x if you are thinking about a bed cover, it really makes the bed look nice. I also when with the Line-X plus top coat to keep the glossy shine going (For at least 5 years), little more pricey, but I think it is worth it. FYI, the glossy top coat line-x plus is currently only available in Black. My truck is silver and that glossy black just looks sooo nice. Anyhow, If anyone is interested, I can post some pictures.

line x is great stuff. we had all 3 dump trucks at work done in it. while it won't prevent dents it does prevent the rust which is the big reason we did it and stops small dents.

Well there are only two places that were closest to me that did it. For the basic liner one charged $388, if you wanted a color match it was about $200 more, if you wanted the non-linex top coat it was $75 extra. The other place was charged $409 for the basic liner, then an extra $100 if you wanted a color match, or an extra $150 for the new Line-x Plus Top Coat. I went with the second guy because I wanted the Line-x Plus top coat. They were the only dealer that had the training for this new top coat. Other Line-x dealers can offer a top coat option but it is not made by line-x and it is not as durable. They have to go to additional training to be allowed to offer this the Line-x top coat. The other Line-x dealer told me that they had not been to the training yet, so they were not authorized to sell it. So if a dealer offers you a top coat make sure it is the line-x one.The only thing the top coat does is add a little more protection and it keeps the liner from fading. It has a 5 year warranty against fading, it is guaranteed to stay glossy black for the whole five years. If you don't get the top coat your liner will fade to a flat black color. The other cool think about line-x is, they have a national warranty, so if you have any problems you can take it to any Line-x deal to have it repaired. Keep in mind these prices were for a 5.5 foot bed. Oh one thing I forgot to add, you cannot get the top coat if you do a color match, the top coat is only available in Black.

All,

I've had a Line-X liner in my '03 F250 for three years (and three New England winters) and it's been great. Nothing slides around and it protects the bed and sidewalls from "minor" dents by absorbing the energy normally transferred during "impact".

The top-coat y'all refer to wasn't available when I had my truck sprayed and although it may be a bit "dull" I have no complaints.

The shop that sprayed my truck removed the anchors, bed bolts and tailgate access panel (spray separately) and re-assembled after it was set. If I ever have to get into the tailgate mechanism I simply pull the bolts as I would have on the factory paint.

Line-X is well worth the investment, IMHO.

Bill, not sure if you would be interested in the spending the extra dough, but the place I went to said that they can spray that new top coat on old Line Liners, so you could still get it added. They had pictures of old liners getting the top coat added and they looked completely new. You might check in your area if that service is available. The place I went to also removed all the bolts and stuff.

I'm a LINE-X dealer, allow me to explain.

Most (but not all) LINE-X dealers can offer three upgrades, here they are Best to Worst:
LINE-X Xtra - Made by Dupont only for LINE-X. Contains Kevlar, very durable. Black is available now, color matching will be available about April. Great stuff!
Dupont Nason - Nason is a urethane automotive paint. We currently use Nason for color matches or to use on black. It's good and has been used for years, but Xtra is superior.
Ultra Shield - An older LINE-X black UV topcoat. I don't like it so I don't sell it.

db_tanker: Toff is a 100% polyurethane liner exactly like Rhino. LINE-X, a blend of polyurethane and polyurea, literally has more than double the tear strength of Rhino or Toff. LINE-X uses a heat high pressure application system for superior adhesion and a more uniform final texture. Toff and Rhino use a cold low pressure system. LINE-X has a nationwide lifetime warranty, Toff and Rhino have lifetime warranties only with the dealer that sprays it.

Here's LINE-X with black LINE-X Xtra; it's a darker black than regular LINE-X:

Where are you exactly ? I have an 06 F150 coming in next month and want to get Line-X in the 5 1/2' bed. I work at Five Star Ford parts dept in Farmers Branch Tx. I see from your profile you are in Tx also. I would rather spend the money with a forum member if I can.

I was using the wrong terminology for the top coat, It was the Line-X Xtra, thanks Truck Daddy. I added a picture to my gallery if anyone wants to see it.

Actually, Xtra is applied like a topcoat, but migrates into the bedliner. Now, the concentration of Xtra is greater toward the surface than the bottom. So, it's more than just a topcoat.

Truckdaddy,

Thanks for that info. There is a dealer just on the way home from work and I will stop off there and see what he will charge. I am lucky...got a black truck.
