Transfer case whine

Transfer case whine
I have a 97 explorer XLT with a whine and need some help. I have the problem where my 4x4 would go on at low speeds even though the wheels were not spinning. The 4x4 lights on the dash also flash in a pattern periodically. I changed out the front and rear speed sensors and the transfer case fluid. Now when I drive there is a whine coming from the car (I assume it is the transfer case as it was not there prior to my work). The case did take 1 3/4 quarts of fluid while the manual calls for 1 1/2? Any body have any suggestions as to what the heck is going on? Thanks!
