i need to find a good complete overhaul manual for my 94 7.3 non-turbo engine. does anyone know where i can get one? or order one? i dont want a crapy Haynes manual!!! does chilton make one for ford diesels? since the 7.3 is an international motor, maybe there is a manual for an international application with the same motor?

i havent had too much time to look into it much...just thought somebody here would know...thanks

What wrong with the Haynes Manual. I thought it covers the diesels quite well. Whatever I needed I got from it. Yeah it sucks to have the chevy and cummins diesels thrown into the same manual, but it is all I ever needed. The basic engine is very simple and anyone who has ever rebuilt a V8 should find everything they need in the Haynes Manual.

 

well i havent had a chance to take a look at the haynes manual that is just for all the diesel engines...but in the past when i have had to use a repair manual, there was no comparrison between the chilton and the haynes manuals, the chiltons went much further in depth and had many more specs. but i am not too biased, i will head up to the local parts store 2morrow and check it out.

i have to put all new bearings in my non-turbo 7.3 and i just wanted a detailed book incase i needed to have a look. but thanks.

 

I recently purchased a Haynes manual. My general impression is that it is a good basic manual but it does lack some of the detail I find in other manuals. I did look at the section on rebuilding. It appears to be pretty good and they have an exceptional section on diagnosing bearing problems. There must be twenty pictures of damaged bearings and what the causes were.


Tell us how the rebuild went when you get done.

 

ok i will let you know how it goes...should be starting tear-down this weekend. only prob is that i only have time to work on it on the weekends b/c of college.

i did go out and buy the Haynes diesel repair manual. i did like the bearing diagnosis pictures, thats a first for Haynes that i know of, maybe they are finally coming around. i am still looking for a more detailed manual though, so if anyone knows please let me know. i am going to call NAPA in a lil bit to see if they carry a chiltons manual for diesels.
