exhaust fumes in cab

does anyone notice the smell of exhaust fumes in the cab? its very slight, i really don't notice, but other people seem to notice more than i do. is there something wrong with my exhaust system? or is it a normal thing on these trucks? i think i read a thread about it once but couldn't find it. my concern is that is this any kind of danger if i sit in it idleing or something, plus just overall health reasons not wanting to breathe in fumes. thank you.

Fresh air intake over the hood is perhaps getting exhaust into the cab. I notice only if the wind is in the right direction and sitting at a light or idling. If I am idling a long time, leaveing the truck running, I hit the re-circulate button on the HVAC, prevents this nicely. You do have to take it off after a while or the truck starts to fog if its cold out.

There are some trucks known for a problem of a cracked downpipe from the turbo causing this. Quick way to check is to watch the exhaust and see if wind is blowing it in when you smell it. (easy where I am cause its cold out.) If it seems that its not the wind, then go to your dealer and have them check for a cracked down pipe, or other exhaust leak.....

I notice it only when the wind is blowing in the right direction and it gets in the air intake.

I wouldn't think its a problem unless you notice it when you are driving down the road at speed and you can smell it.

As was said, exhaust manifold gaskets are sometimes needed.
