87 2.9 valve lash adjustment

I have recently rebuilt the 2.9 in my sons 87 ranger and would like to check/adjust the valve lash. Can not find anything diffinitive on the subject in Ford shop manual. I did find a thread from Nov 05 regarding adjustment, but it was on an engine that appeared to not have been started. Don't know if it would be any different for an engine that has been started.

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks.

The adjustment is 1 1/2 turns after zero lash.

I would also consider using the blue fel-pro silicone valve cover gaskets. They are about $50 a set and will not leak.

Dernst, thanks for the reply.

The fel-pro silicone gaskets are the only way to go. Well worth the extra $'s. No leaks at all.
