Hot Wheels '79 F150 is out!
I saw this on the Hot Wheels 2000 poster and finally the other day my son found it at the store. Of course I had to buy one for each kid, one for me to play with, and one for my collection that never comes out of the package. It comes with a cap, which I immediately pulled off (as I hate caps because, in my opinion, they detract from the pickup look) and was dissapointed to find the bed not finished, but some minor work can fix that (though the tailgate is part of the plastic cap. It is dark blue (medium blue on the poster) with a preying mantis on the side--all the way down the bed and door. I'd rather it be a plain paint job but it is a 70's F150 which were some of the best styling ever. Proportions and detail are pretty good and it has a good stance, sitting a bit higher in the back. It's long bed standard cab, with nice wheels. For 99 cents it is a must buy!

My wife will be happy. She collects die-cast and model trucks. The only 73-79 she's been able to find so far is the Sam Walton 78 F150.

Wow! I was in the Kroger grocery store the other day and they had the Matchbox red Texaco '56 Ford pickup! I could hardly believe it! We have been looking for it all year since we got the 2000 Matchbox poster. Then the next day I found another one at Meijer's. So far this one (I also have it in green with a produce co. emblem on door) and the '79 F150 noted above are the most realistic looking of all my toy Ford trucks in the Hotwheels/Matchbox size. The '56 also came in purple as shown on the '97 Matchbox poster--would love to find that one.
