05 F150 Tune Up

I want to tune up my own F-150. One year old. 27K miles.

I have always tuned up my own vehicles, but this one is expensive and very computerized. I don't want to screw up.

What parts do you recommend I do on my own? Plugs? Air filter? PCV Valve? Wires? ...

It is running great, but I think it is time to tune up before I let it go too far. I did not expect to do 27K in one year, but this looks like it will be the norm.

no real such thing as a tune up. you can do the basics, fuel filter, air filter and pcv. there is no spark plug wires and the plugs are good for 60 -100k.

It doesn't have the pick up as whenfirst bought. Beleive me, it will get moving as diorected, but I don't want to make it work too hard.

Do you think the MINOR power loss is strictly air filter, fuel filter, and pcv?
Is there anything wrong or stupid about changing plugs early?

I suggest you pull spark plugs out and CLEAN IT then re install it (or buy new ones then apply it anti seize and electric grease) otherwise you will have trouble to pull spark plug out later like 40-60K milages!

I've noticed on these newer cars that having the throttle body assembly cleaned really gives an improvement in response and power.

That said, I'm not even sure the F150 has a throttle body, but cleaning it sure made a difference on my old Bronco.

2005 F150 PCV and Fuel Filter

Can anyone tell me where the PCV valve is on my 2005 F150 (5.4 L Triton)? Also, what is the secret to releaseing the fuel filter?

I have an 06 F-150, and I'm not sure where the PCV valve is...

As for the filter filter, you need a release tool that goes inside the lip of the filter or the line.

Ford uses these style connectors on just about all there metal lines. Fuel, A/C and so on.

You should be able to buy these tools at any auto parts store.

Thanks for the info.

Do you know where the PCV is? It should be on the valve cover, but I don't want to mess up a connection by pulling on the wrong part.
