Look for loose heat shields all along the pipes.

It was my bell housing cover

HI.. my 2003 F250 did the exact same thing. It turned out to be that inspection cover on the bell housing I tapped it with my hand and it was tinny but in no way did I think that was where the noise was coming from.. But it was a bit loose (can move it back and forth ) so I put felt in (to wedge) and the noise above went away...

I would go back and check those heat shields all the way down the pipes. Mine had cracked the welds about 4 feet back from the engine. Drove my nuts for months. I would check the transmission shield, the heat shields, and every bolt. Then I finally realized it was the welds on the top bands that broke loose. Put a clamp on it and it fixed everything.
