misfiring poping shaking
Hi all and Merry Xmas! I'm having a problem with my 2000 5.4, this is all that i've done to it. Started by changing from Stock to Cold Air Intake and knN filter, set of bosch #2 plat plugs, sent off fuel injectors to get overhauled, hedmann headers, camshafts from compcams that requires computer upgrade, stall converter,3.73-4.10 gears also added duels exhaust to 2 two chamber flowmasters. Also removed filtering in cats. I have RnRed everything except the gears and computer upgrade. I'll send my truck to a certified mechanic to do my gears. As far as my comp goes it being custom programed at lasota racing for the upgrades i have added. The problem is i have used my truck tonight for a family function and its running very bad. I believe its the stock computer and the O2's that have went into limp mode but i didn't realize the lose of all that power! and it misses pops shakes so severly as it goes into the last 3 gears including overdrive what have i done.If i get on it and go through gears quickly I can hold it at a speed with steady acceleration for afew seconds but as soon as it starts getting reduction in speed and i gently accelerate it starts to shake and pop and miss with less torque and power it had when it was stock. I stopped at a gas station to check tranny and oil and noticed a slight tic tic tic tic tic noise. sounds like it was comeing from the alternator area near the belt. I was'nt to sure so when i arrived at home I checked it again. I began removing the plugs 1 by 1 from the coils and I found the tic noise went away on the #2. Pluged it back in and it was there again, I'm wondering if when I turned the camshaft about 1/4 of a turn to set the timing with no timing chains If I bent a Valve or if i just have a dead coil? If it would be the valve would the tic tic noise sound exactly like it would be a misfire on the coil?

I installed the new flash it seems the timing is correct but when i pull wires from the coils 2 of them on left side and 2 on right side arnt firing i changed the coils to different cylinders and the same cylinders are not firing so i know its not the coils i checked the plugs there good. checked the injectors with a thesascope and there pulsing. only thing i can think is that the cams arnt on time any suggestions?

I think you're 2 steps ahead of everybody already. I havn't tore into one, but I read a thread recently that might help.

well, the four dead cylinders had the intake cam followers laying loose in the head. they poped right back in but the lifters must have bled down or something for that to happen i will replace the intake gasket tomorrow and we'll see what happens. this car has been sitting since before 11-03 .
the valve cover on the passenger side was a real pain the other was ok.
i think the wrong weight oil might cause this also. thanks for all the help. beats pulling the motor."
