The red wire that runs from the key switch to the starter soleniod is hot all the time when the key is in the on position. Thus not letting the starter disenage when starting. I have by passed the nuetral safety switch but with no luck there. traced wires all look good, this is driving me nuts please help.
Thanks
JC
This is incorrect. The red wire should only have power when the ignition is in the start position and should lose power as soon as the key is released. Maybe someone in here will know for sure but I'd think either the ignition switch has issues and you may have to replace it or there's a short somewhere else along the line. On my ignition switch there are 2 red wires coming out of it, from the same lead, one to the solenoid and I'm not sure where the other one goes. Maybe someone will have an idea on where this wire goes and if it could be shorted out.
Otherwise, this is something that could be "fixed" with a $2 temp push button, and wire your starter through it.
I figured it out, I had two wires on the ignition box mixed up, the red wires is actually red wire...it goes from the switch to the neutral safety swtich then back up to the solinoid. Glad I knowj this now......thanks for the help guys and
