help with power window problem 98 explorer

only the driver can roll down all the windows. the behavior is exactly as if the child window lock switch is engaged. i just replaced that switch on the driver side, i.e. the unit with all the window buttons and child lock switch. didn't fix the problem. anybody had this one?
thanks

Got the same problem on a 96 limited. Have you found an answer?

You need a wiring diagram for a 98, but if it's wired the same as a 97, it sounds like a break in the red/light blue wire which connects voltage from the drivers switch to all the other switches.

Most likely trouble spot is where the wire flexes everytime the drivers door is opened.

Could that be the same problem with a 96 explorer?

sorry to double post here, but I have some more questions. Is it possible that the problem could be with the fuse? What makes me think so is that the Lock/Unlock is acting up on me as well. Also, I checked in the owner's manual to see what fuse goes to what, but all it said was what kind of fuse you need for each specfic function. Is there a fuse layout I am not finding?

im not sure about the 98 but on my 2000 xls my locks were acting up on me after weeks of looking for the problem someone told me that the is a computer that controls the electronics windshield washer, locks, auto window, rear defroster and other things like that got one from the junk yard and it fixed my problem

Without a wiring diagram to tell you how the circuit works, you are just spinning your wheels.

If I had a 96 Explorer, i would also have the Ford electrical & vacuum troubleshooting manual for it & could tell you what you need to know to fix this.

If I had a real computer, i'd look up your wiring diagram at autozone.com & post it here for you. But my Web tv browser doesnt work on the autozone site.

Check out the autozone site or go to helminc.com & order the EVTM for your 96. For fixing troubles like this the EVTM is worth it's weight in gold.
