steering ratios

Does anybody know what the steering ratio is for a manual vs power steering box for an F100. If I convert to power steering will I also get a higher steering ratio (less turns lock-to-lock)?

Yes, it depends on what power box you get.

Manual gear ratio - 24:1, turns lock-to-lock - 6
Ford Integral power gear ratio - 17:1, turns lock-to-lock - 4
Bendix Integral power gear ratio - 17.5:1, turns lock-to-lock - 3.88

Thanks for the info. The reason I asked was because I'm thinking that aside from the power steering being easier to turn at low speeds it might also be nicer in a straight line because small corrections don't require as much movement of the steering wheel. What do you think?

Sedric,
Strangely enough a better ride on the highway is achieved by the larger ratio. Over corrections cause side to side weight transfer that have led to oversteer problems under highway speeds. Because Ford builds such a loose steering system, its really not an issue. The power steering is 100% better than the other system. I own both and my favorite is determined by the power steering.
Good luck, Have Fun,

I switched to power brake recently and the next logical step is PS but from some of the other postings it's looks like it's fairly involved so I just want to make sure its worth it.
