AEM Brute Force cold air intake. 60 miles later check engine light
I installed an AEM Brute Force on my truck this weekend and after 60 miles the check engine light came on...I haven't taken it to the dealer yet to see what the problem is.
A buddy of mine had the same problem but it took two months before the check engine light came on. When he took it to the dealer they said the code it threw was for a bad O2 sensor on the 2nd bank but the sensors all tested out fine and were within Ford’s specs. The dealer reset the code and two months later, same thing. He’s currently back to his stock air intake system because the dealer wants to know if the problem will appear again.
Has anyone else experienced a similar problem? Is it possible that the computer is confused because it detected a change from some running average that is kept internally so it thinks there’s a problem when in reality everything is fine?
My truck is out of warranty (too many miles) so I don’t want to pay to have them tell me the same thing as my buddy and to simply reset the code.
Thanks in advance
