anyone running 315/75/16s
i was wondering if anyone was running 315/75/16s with 4.56 gears and what they experienced in drivability changes. This was the combination i was planing on running on my 97 f150 4x4 with the 4.6 but wanted to know the pros and cons of running this set up. According to the bfg gearing calculator on there web site 4.56 gears with 315/75/16s will gear my truck a little steeper then the factory set up with stock tires, approximately equivalent to 3.89 with 245/75/16s. well this extra steepness be enough to not only componsate for the extra tire height, but for the extra tire width, extra wind resistance ect or is it possibly too steep. in my opinion this engine with 3.55 gears(which is what i have) is already underpowered with the factory set up, so i don't want to make things much worse with the combo i plan to run.
if anyone is running this setup, or anything else different then factory for that matter, could u please tell me what rpm u run on the highway (65mph).
it should be noted that i don't plan to do any hard core off roading and that to maintain near stock driveability is my main concern.
also, how wide are stock rims on 97 f-150 4x4, its an xlt with the upgraded aluminum rims (if that makes a difference). I notice that the BFG 315/75/16 A/T can be run on a 8 inch wide rim and i was wondering if the stock ones would be suffecient. lastly and most importantly, i have a 3 inch PA body lift and 2 inch blocks on the rear axle and the torsion bars cranked up 2 inches, will this set up net me enough lift to even run 315/75/16s. any information would be greatly appretiated.

The stock rims should be 7" wide.
I would guess that with the different gear ratio it will pretty close to how it does stock. Your new tires will be heavier too so they will take more to get rolling....and more to stop. You will probably notice that your brakes feel weak compared to when you had the stock tires. That's one of the things I dislike most about putting bigger tires on.
A long time ago I had 38.5" tires on my old F-250 with 4.56 gears. It felt pretty simliar to the stock size tires with 4.10s but it sure went a lot more places
Anyone got some answers as to what it will take to fit the tires under the truck?
