should i switch to alloys? + tire questions
here is my truck right now
It has those ugly "styled" steel rims. I've been seeing other expeditions on the road and they all seem so much better with alloys.
Would i gain anything in performance from alloys?
Also, my tires are 255/70 R16
The wheels look kinda small next to other Expeditons on the road. I see that the other expeditions are running 265/70 R17
is it possible to run larger tire sizes on my R16 rims?
I found some R16 alloys from expeditions on local classifieds for about $200 and they are looking appealing.
Please advise!

I vote for polished aluminum wheels, forged ones if possible.
I'm in the tire business, and it is my experience that all chromed aluminum wheels eventually peel. Once you get your first nick or scratch, it's the beginning of the end.
I'm an Alcoa wheel fan... they are very light, very strong, and reasonably priced, too. The quality cannot be beat. Plus, with a forged aluminum wheel, it is easy to keep a nice finish.
Good luck, whatever you decide to do!
