Hello People,

I'm new here so I hope I'm in the right forum. Got a 89 250 with a 7.3 followed by an E4OD. 7.3 has started blowing bubbles in the coolant. Also have an 89 250 with a 460 followed by a 5 speed manual. Is putting the 460 in place of the 7.3 an option? Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

 

It's an option, but you will have a good bit of electronic work, if you feel up to the job go for it. Just dont expect too much for gas mileage, i average 9 MPG.

On a side note the five speed is a very good tranny, very strong, with granny low and overdrive.

 

so you know that the bellhousing are the same. i have a 75 ford that has had alot of conversions done, (disk frontend, 460) the 460 came from a 71 lincoln and gets mid teens gas milage. because of smog and epaaa they were demoted so bad since the mid 70s that became pathetic. i am on a "mission" to find out possitivly if the 460 and diesels share bells. and info is apreciated
