03 V10 A/T (What is it?)

Hey guys, what is the 4speed o/d a/t in my truck?
What kind of reliability record do they have? Anything to watch for.
As per ususal I switched mine to synthetic atf, just clocked 5,000 miles pulling trailer and works fine, gauge never went over normal through lots o mountains.
Thanks

For a 2003, you have the 4R100 (4-speed) transmission.

They are OK, but need to be well-maintained to have a long life. Additional cooling will help it a lot. Should you need/desire a rebuild, kits with much stronger parts are available to "bulletproof" it.

Same here but I will ad that the 3.73 will make the tranny work harder but with maintenance it will last. Also the factory temp gauge is a joke install a real gauge to see what the temp really is.

I'm running Mobil I in both of my trucks DRW 48K almost all pulling 15K 5ver, SRW 90K work truck 9K+ all the time and pull trailer all the time. Both trannys doing fine.
