Gas prices again?

I just filled up my 98 F150 yesterday. I had over a 1/4 tank of gas and $50 worth of regular went in. I figure it'll cost my $70 or so to fill it. The gas near me in CA is $2.98 for the cheap grade. Super duper is $3.19. OUCH! My wife suggested I put a 10 gallon tank in my 56 instead of the 20 so it won't hurt as much filling it up. Duh?

I am used to paying a lot to fill trucks, what shocked me was I filled my wife's Taraus Sunday (before the price increase) and it cost me over $40.

How far do we have to bend over? Somehow I think that we will be bending way over for quite sometime to come.

South Carolina...Just paid $3.19\Gal. for mid grade....they are all running out of gas here.
The Price doesnt bother me so much as the oportunistic stations that are pushing price thru the roof. The gas we are paying $3.19 plus for right now is the same gas they had in the ground for $2.39 yesturday......not the more expensive stuff they are gonna get on thier next order. Isnt there a law against price inflation like this??? Gas stations just seem to take advantage in the first 24 hrs. of any crisis ! (and get away with it)

just my opinion.......................

You are correct, but do not forget that to remain competitive they also have to drop the price - sometimes below what they paid for it - when the price comes back down. What really sucks is here in California. The price has gone up even though none of the problems in the SE affects our oil supply! It went from $2.69 to 3.00 and we did not have a storm.

The fuel price situation has attracted just about everyone's attention. Rather than move this thread to the General Automotive Discussion Forum, I'll ask that anyone who would like to discuss this further go to that forum for additional posting.
