Wheel Center cap help

1999 F150 4x4 I have purchased aluminum Wheels Part # XL34-1007 and center caps Part# XL34-1A096-AA these replaced the ford steel wheels but i can not get the center caps to stay on. does this require a different lug nut for the center caps? My local Ford dealer can't answer the question so any help would be greatly appreciated

Do the caps have metal spring type clamps that grip the lug nuts? Sometimes they are too open and you can close them up with some pliers.

what type of lug nuts do you have the regular ones or ones that are thicker and about a inch high so that the cap will grasp and hold on.

The lug nuts on my truck have a thick washer and the lug nut itself is pretty tall.

Could this be a center cap for the 14mm studs while you have the 12mm?

So what was the problem with the caps? I think the plastic rock guards need to come off. I had to take mine off when I put on my stainless fender trim. If I remember correctly they just have a few clips. If you look carefully the lower edge of the whole truck has kinda of a rubbery coating, it's pretty hard to chip.

The rubber coating at the bottom of the truck is what i'm needing to cover up with the stainless. my wife recently purchased a 05 Excursion and has decided it's to big and the Power Stroke makes a little more noise then expected so she's has ussumed my truck and ran over a planter on the edge of he driveway put few dings in the rock guard body man priced $1000 for repair

Glad you fixed the caps they should stay on. Sorry to here about the rock guard, you still need to cover up any bare metal before installing the stanless steel rocker panels. or rust will set in.

the stainless trim doesn't roll under the edges, which is what I think you want. Some of the kits are pretty bad and leave large gaps between the panels. There is a flexible plastic "diamond tread" trim that you can cut to fit, but I've never tried it so I don't know how it holds up.
