4x4 Problems

I have a 1990 f350 with a 460 and 5spd manual tranny. when i am in 4x4 the truck wont go in reverse. when i put it in reverse and let the clutch out it acts like it in neutral. reverse works in 2x4.

It sound like the transfer case might not be engaging, verify that you engage the 4 hight or 4 low on the transfer case stick.

Thumbs up

Replace those automatic lockers on the front hub, with manual lockers, brand names such as Superwinch or Warn are very good hubs. The automatic hubs are disengaging when going in reverse.

What do the front hubs engaging or not have to do with going in reverse? If the hubs were not engaging, the rear wheels would still allow you to move or am I missing something?
