help torsion bars

I need assitance, I am trying to remove the torsion bars so I can remove the trasnfer and transmission so I can do a rear main seal. I have done many other vehicles but this is quite unique. to drop the transfer you have to remove the torsion bar and frame. I have it all apart but I can't get either torsion bar free and removed from either the lower a frame or the the frame that holds both bars in the rear. any ideas?

Truck tore part in the garage,
Lance

on my ranger the jacks had to have a load on the susp to get them out easy. try loading (or unloading ) the suspension with a jack. be sure to use jack stands.

I have no load on them at all, they are just hanging there. I beleive they are stuck or rusted on both ends. Thanks for the advice.

I had the same problem on my 97 150 and i beat the crap out of them trying to get them off and I could not get them. I went on to working on a different part of the project and one just fell out on it's own and scarred the crap out of me. Thought the truck was coming down on me. Then about an hour later the other one fell out. I have no idea why I could beat the crap out of them and not come out and then they just fall out on their own. May want to try putting a pipe wrench on and flex it the opposite way they are loaded.

Did you remove the adjuster bolts from the "keys" on the back end of the torsion bars?
Once you have those removed to get rid of any tension on the bars you can usually beat the crossmember and torsion bar keys back at the same time to remove the keys from the bars.
The front of the torsion bars is usually pretty seized into the control arms so I just remove the keys and crossmember and leave the bars in at the front.

They are both siezed the front and the back, worked all day yesterday, about to give up and put it back to gether and wait until it gets worst. hate to let a truck beat me but I have to go back to work soon and I need the truck. will try the wrench twiter today. Had tie down straps on the crss member all night and nothing not even a budge. I wonder what Ford does when this happens?
