two questions check engine and wires
Hey Guys,
A couple of questions. I'm getting an engine light coming on and the truck running rough on my 98 F150 4x4 4.6L The problem is, the light stays on for 2-3 days and then goes off. I had problems back in January with it running rough and they replaced the #5 spark plug wire (they also charged my $130 to do this). Question one, what should I do about this engine light? It's very difficult for me to get it to the dealer to get it checked and if the light is gone I presume there won't be a code in there. Second, with regards to it running rough, should I go ahead and have them replace the rest of the wires? By the way, I'm in Canada, so it's Canadian dollars...

Just cause the light goes off doesn't mean that the code is gone. It is still there. But if you want to wait for it to come on again, then take it to a local parts store. Most will pull the codes for you for free. Post back with the codes and many of us have the list of codes and can post the definitions for you.
