Rough Idle
I just pulled a 302 motor from a 74 van and put it in my 84 F-100 Pickup. It runs great going down the road but I have a very rough idle. I went through the carb (autolite tag #d4ueha)and installed a rebuild kit but the problem persists. There are two vacume line fittings at the carb base approx. 3/16" in size, one above the drivers side mixture screw the other on the passenger side of the carb under the choke mechanism. Which one of these does the vacume advance line go to?
Also there seems to be no vacume at these fittings on idle. PLEASE HELP. Thanks a bunch.
Dave.

When you overhauled the carb, did you replace the gasket under the EGR spacer plate as well. It's the plate directly under the carb which the EGR valve mounts to is often overlooked because that gasket doesn't come in the kit,but available seperate at any parts store. Also check the EGR valve itself for proper seating of the pintle valve. For the vacuum ports the side one should be for the dist. and the front one will be for emmision devices. There should be a third one at the rear for the choke pull-off.Hope this helps.
