How to bleed new slave cylinder?
Hi,
Just finished rebuilding and installing the 4.2 engine in my '97 F-150. While I had it apart, I installed a new clutch kit and slave cylinder. I replaced the o-ring on the hydraulic line, and bled the system by having the wife press down and hold while I opened and closed the bleeder. Did this several times, but when I fired it up and pushed in the clutch, it would not disengage. The new clutch disc was clearly marked "flywheel side" and that's how I installed it.
Any advice on a better way to bleed the slave cylinder? Is it common for these to be defective when new?
Thanks for any help,
Bill
