Squeeks from the front end??

Hi all I have a 1988 f-150 4x4 long bed w/178000 miles & I am getting a squeek from the left ? front, its not brakes (I dont think ) because it dont go away when I step on the brake pedal. Any ideas?, Thanks in advance for your help

Check your U joints. Set the parking brake, put in neutral, look for any play at all in your u joints and yokes at all throughout the drive line. Then, I would look at maybe your wheel bearings.

What type of squeek is it? Metal to metal. Or a small barely audible but extremely annoying squeek. Also do you have auto or manual locking hubs?

Thanks for the replys, the squeek is barely audible, I only hear it at low speeds (in a parking garage) I have manual hubs.
It squeeks with or with brakes applied.It sounds like it is from left front.
