Talking computer to carb.....

Just bought an 89 Eddie B. It has the 302 mated to an aod. The previous owner put on an Edelbrock intake with an Edelbrock carb, Headers, Cam and such. Runs great all kinds of power but the problem is the tranny you have to drive it in drive not overdrive. When you drive it in overdrive the tranny will go through all the gears and run in o.d. for a short period and then just goes away like your in neutral. When you run in just drive it will go through the gears always with different shift points. Sometimes shift points without heavy acceleration are around 3800 RPM. Any help would be greatly appreciated.........................

The AOD shift control is done via the TV (throttle valve) cable to the best of my knowledge. However, sicne you say that OD just kind of fades away after a while, I'd check the condition of the fluid and filter first. Old fluid will lose its viscosity when it heats up and will, in turn, reduce the amount of hydraulic pressure it can maintain. A dirty filter will also keep the fluid from recirculating fast enough to maintain decent pressure. I don't know enough about the TV cable setup to give advise on adjustment. Adjustments may or may not be possible. Someone here knows though.

take it to a tranny shop to have it adjusted. it can be done with a haynes manual but because your setup is no longer efi it may be more difficult and you dont want to burn up your tranny from misadjusting it.
