Seafoam.....your take on it......poll

1. I have used Seafoam a few times and it had always worked as advertised, without any ill effects on the Bronco, and it defiantly ran better than before.
2. I used Seafoam once it worked ok with no problems, but I felt/noticed no difference in how the truck runs.
3. I used Seafoam once and it did nothing but mess up my truck, or made it run worse.

Back in the 70’s (1970’s) we used to pour something similar down the carburetor while the engine was running and it would smoke up the whole neighborhood. I think it was supposed to clean the valves. I don’t remember it making much difference in the way the vehicle ran. It was probably some kind of thin oil that was sold as a cure all.

I ran the whole can through the crankcase on my work van 90 5.8 EFI.
No more noisy lifters, and better oil pressure no drop at idle. Oil stayed a lot cleaner after flush. Must have got rid of a lotta cr@#.
Never ran it through the fuel system.

I don't have noisy lifters at 169K on my 5.8 nor oil consumption but possibly low oil pressure (still use factory guage that reads low). I swiched from 10w30 to 20w50 and get very little pressure increase. What is the best way to flush crankcase with Seafoam? Also did it start oil leaks or increase them?

Before you do that be sure to put a mechanical gauge on her......the stock unit is nothing but a glorified idiot light, and is totally useless but for letting you know that there is a min of 6lbs of pressure. Ever notice how when you hit the gas the stock oil pressure gauge dont move......put a real mechanical gauge on there, and hit the gas you will see the needle move up like it should.

I use the fluid and aeresol version on my outboard boat motor. I run the fluid through my gas and the aeresol version gets sprayed into the cylinders via the spark plug holes. It works wonders for my outboard. I've never tried using it on a vehicle but can't see why it wouldn't work there as well.

Around my neck of the woods Napa autoparts stores carry both versions.

I just dumped in the whole can and let the engine idle about 30 minutes. Then changed oil and filter, engine had about 130,000 miles on it. I only had low oil pressure at hot idle then the lifters started clacking so I figured it wasn't gonna make anything worse. I've put about 30,000 miles since no leaks no noise no oil consumption.

Seafoam quickly cleared up a fuel problem in my 99 snowmobile (2 cycle 500 CC motor), ran great afterwards, barely started before. I like Marvel Mystery Oil, been using it for years in my gas on long trips, and it does increase gas mileage. Not sure about the effects on catyletic convertors.

Two capfulls in gas of 30+ year old 2 Cycle Lawn Boy mower cleared up the sticking float. I also like the synthetic blend 2 Cycle oil because everything runs better. Yes, works good in Bronco.
