Yeah just like the new Ford five hundred has the CVT on it. It was quite a ride. I do agree with more horsepower and better quality of fabrics for more stain resistance. Chrome wheels (not the cheap ones either) would be a nice touch as well. More dress-up on the outside. Not really as far as the body goes, because I do like the body of the truck. But accent chrome in some more places would be nice also. A change in the tail lights would be a good touch also. ie....larger, especially the third brake light. But if some of the stuff that they intend to put on the Lincoln Mark LT would be put on the F-150, that would be great also. I realize that it is a truck, but some dressup would be nice.

HAHA. I agree! Superdutys are not what we need. Don't let DANKO mess with your mind - we are supporters of the F150.

Danko has two F150's and they ARE dressed up. 2002 and 2003 HarleyDavidson F150's. Since you can no longer get a HD with a special engine, I am getting a V-10 XLT.

I have an 05 Loaded SCREW F150 and Loaded 05 SCREW PSD F250. Both are great but different vehicles. My little F150 fits in the garage and rides SUV smooth. My wife's F250 PSD is huge fun with the big torque of a competant diesel but ride more firmly like a high quality work truck. She gets 18mpg to my 12mpg. I want the best of both worlds for me and the F150.

If Ford wants me to buy another truck ASAP, get me a 4.5 PSD diesel for the F150 and I'd be back at the dealer tomorrow. The F150 could really use the torque that a Turbo Diesel delivers without all the fuss and rev's a gasser needs to get things done.

Please, we could use some details. You spent how much extra to save how much per week/month/year on fuel costs? It is always an interesting discussion to explain how you are further ahead spending an extra $5000 to save money on fuel. How many miles a year do you drive and where is the breakeven point?

Danko,

How much you save is relative to how much you drive and the local cost of the fuel differential (Diesel is 2.40 vs 2.20 these days). I like the longer driving range that 30 gals x 22 est mpg would deliver with a 4.5 PSD vs 12-14mpg for the 5.4 gasser and the quality driving experience the PSD offers..... Money isn't everything. You spend 100,000-200,000 miles of drive time in a vehicle you should try to enjoy yourself.

I just prefer the PSD - if you spend time with one, you'll know why.

Target B, Glad you are happy with whatever American iron you choose but dollarwise, your smokers make zero sense. Elsewhere in this forum it describes how Chevy is coming out with a 380 h.p. 8.2 gasser. There is an American h.p. war going on and the diesels are getting better, too. WOTT uh KONNTREEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

I 'd like to see a more well thought-out powerband. I have an '05 5.4L and it doesn't feel like it has anywhere near 300hp.....also the powerband is choppy, there is an awful lag when it first shifts into 2nd, it seems to hesitate too much.......I think better ECU mapping is all the 5.4 needs - stock it's not crisp at all and feels rather sluggish......seems the competition is gonna jump all over this....before eveyone responds with "this truck is made to tow, etc" I believe that more F-150's are sold as family SUV's than will ever see any hardcore hauling action.....most serious tow/hauler's aren't going to buy a light duty truck anyways.....the F-150 is going to be used more for the occaisional furniture move, Home Depot runs, hauling a dirt bike, etc.....I think Ford put too much empathisis in towing, etc on this light duty truck.....IF that's TRULY the reason the powerband is set up the way it is......and the "throttle by wire" suffice it to say I can't stand it on my SCREW or my '05 Mustang GT - already have a tune on the stang and looks like I'm headed that way on the truck as well.

I also believe Ford hit most of the rest of the truck dead on and it is one nice looking, handling, quiet, and quality feeling vehicle (not just truck)......oh, a few minor nits - the rear seatback "feltlike" moulding material that runs along the lower edge of the window is very cheap looking and doesn't even cover the seam very well. Also, for a $40K truck the leather is fairly cheap quality and the rear seats should be leather as well, - at least the "seating surfaces", just switched out my speakers with Kappa's and Ford is still using the $3.00 paper "whizzer" coned speakers....and don't get me started on the "non functional" AUX button......
