need advice on rear axle bearings

I have the rear end disassembled to be cleaned up to go under my 59, the rear is from a 71 F100. The local garage said $280.00 to install 2 new bearings if i brought them the axles YIKES!!!!
I got the old bearings pressed off myself and will press the new ones on myself but i am having a very hard time finding the bearings.

The p/n from the bearing is S208A-KK, FOMOCO and the cheapest i can find is $90 from Acklands.......this can't be more then a $30 bearing i would think. No one has that part number (haven't tried Ford) they list 5 different bearings for a 71 F100.
How am i going to find an affordable bearing ???
Or is $80 beans for one bearing what i have to pay ?

I bought my bearings for my Dana 44 (used the same as the 59-72 9") for $36 a peice from the Old Car Centre in BC. I removed and installed them myself. You just got to be careful with the punch when you put them on.

Phoned B&T this morning and their price was about $84 for the bearing with the seal. That seems quite high but it must be the correct price.

The 9" bearings come with the seal, races and the collar you drive on after the bearing. They're bloody expensive compared to what I'm used to buying.

That is great but WHAT company? I will probably need some soon and will need to know! Proves that it pays to shop around if you have the time.

Good stuff, never heard of them so that is good info if these are the right bearings. It will be great to see what the bearings are like once you get them installed.

Don't use a punch to install the bearings.
Get a piece of steel pipe over the axle and make like a slide hammer.

Don't forget the retainer before the bearing.

You don't always have a correct size pipe laying around. I've put many bearings on farm equipment with a punch.
