Windows xp user log in question?

I have xp on my computer. I installed a new printer today, and after I installed it I had to restart. Now every time my computer turns on, it asks me to log in by clicking on my user name. It also does this when the screensaver turns on. How do I disable this feature, it is very irritating.

Go to the control panel, user accounts, remove the password.

You can clear the screensaver password by right clicking on th desktop, select screensaver, unselect the box for "on resume display welcome screen".

Control Panel - User Accounts
"Change the way users log on or off"
clear the "use welcome screen" box.
this will put the login back to the old method.
if you want to do an auto logon, it is a little more difficult but
there are good "tweak" tools to do this.

As glafond stated, you can use tweakui to auto logon. Once you install this, and check auto logon, I don't think you have to do anything else. There are some other nice toys here too.

My computer has always auto-logged me on. I would turn it on and it would load up right to the normal desktop. After I installed the new printer it started doing this. I never had a special program before that allowed me to auto-log in. It just did it itself.

I am wondering if you selected to not share the printer during install, that may explane the change. check in the printer properties, goto start, control panel, printers/hardware. right click printer and select properties. there should be a box labeld sharing. altought that is for sharing on a network it may have activated the logon on your computer.
